This review is for the service here since all we bought was the concentrated coffee (pre-bottled) and coffee grounds.
The manager we encountered that night was OUT OF THIS UNIVERSE helpful and the definition of customer service. You don't really find this type of customer service nowadays. The concept of serving seems to be lost on most of the service industry these days. This is not the case with this manager. We didn't catch his name. He was a younger Vietnamese gentleman.
Thank you my dude!! -

Continuing on my hit parade of all the food I miss from home when I'm living in the Bay area: Lee's Sandwiches. This is my favorite location of Lee's because it's open 24 hours like my 2nd favorite Lee's location, the one in Vegas, which is also 24 hours. (Redundant me is redundant.)*
The passion fruit juice here is even better than most of the passion fruit juice I have had in Hawaii, and their Vietnamese coffee is so smooth and delicious that it would be *less* addictive if they put crack in it. My favorites are the pour-over French coffee and the cold brew black iced coffee.
As for food, the banh mi, the fresh hot baguettes (which they apparently also supply to Vietnamese restaurants all over the county), the croissant sandwiches, the breakfast sandwiches, and the euro sandwiches are all excellent. To call these sandwiches mere "subs" is to do them a disservice. It took me years but I eventually ate my way through their entire extensive menu. Literally. I have bought and tasted 1 of every sandwich on their menu. My favorites are the #1 combination (cured pork, I think? And the gelatinous pork one, I forget what it's called) and the turkey club with salami (a turkey, bacon and cheese sandwich with added salami - this used to be an existing combo but I have found a workaround to still be able to get it). The pate is good but very rich. A little goes a long way. The sardine is flavorful but not too fishy. The lemongrass pork is divine. The salami with mayo is almost as good as the salami and butter baguettes I got addicted to in France.
Currently I actually like the traditional meat fillings in the banh mi at TeaZer in San Jose slightly better, but they don't have as much selection, no European sandwiches, their bread is ever so slightly less crispy-crusted, they charge extra for no ice, and they have a bad track record of getting your order wrong.
*They are truly 24 hours, dining room and everything. But there is a slight (unposted) surcharge at night. At the 24hr one in Vegas it's the same prices 24/7. That would be my favorite location if I lived closer to it. -

It is Lee's - you know you love them.
In the event you were born yesterday and just learned to read today Lee's Sandwiches is easily the most prolific Banh Mi purveyor in OC -therefore the country, if not the world. Their menu is gargantuan, the coffee is absolute rocket fuel, and the take out options in the cold cases have enough variety to stock a refrigerator cheaply.
The sandwiches here are particularly good because of the bread, which Lee's supplies to Vietnamese restaurants throughout the county. Thanks to the addition of a little rice flour, these loaves emerge from the oven with thin but super-crackly crusts and a marshmallow-soft crumb. Think of the whitest, mildest bread encased in the thinnest, noisiest crust (it's like the Klondike bar of baked goods), and you have the Lee's Baguette.
Imagine, if you will, the bread I just described piled with the cold cut protein of your choice including (but definitely not limited to) Pate, Egg and Barbecue Chicken. On top of it sits a long cucumber spear, stalks of cilantro, marinated carrots, and daikon radish, and those fat slices of hot pepper. That dream is yours for $7.99 or less. The incredible overstimulation of crunch and spice like a 5-year-old set loose in a Chuck E. Cheese play area after being served a double Red Bull.
They also offer Vietnamese style coffee (be very careful or you suffer the worst jitters of your life) and a full line of freshly baked goods. Inexpensive, efficient and delicious.
You simply cannot not love Lee's Sandwiches. -

One of the best location, I think they opened 24/7. Always a line but move pretty quickly. I love their baquette-fresh out of the oven. Whenever I crave a sandwich from my country, I'll stop by. They are skimpy with the meat and have raised their price quite a bit. My go to place for fresh baquette, grilled pork and chicken sandwiches. They also have break sandwiches, smoothies, teas, dessert and all sort of coffee and snacks.

We had a very disappointing few experience at this Lee's. We tried three separate attempts at ordering a coconut waffle before we were finally able to order one. The first two times they said they didn't have any left and the third time they finally had it available and mentioned it'd take 5-10 minutes which we agreed to. After waiting 12 minutes we decided to ask them about it and they looked at the order and said they'll start on it right now. It wasn't busy at all at the time which made that extra disappointing. The guy who took the order just had a blank look and said he forgot. We waited in total for 20 minutes for a burnt waffle.
I can't say with certainty what caused it, but later on that day after eating the waffle I came down with a stomach bug and am still currently recovering from it. I'm not sure if it's from their mishandling of their foods.
